Protecting the Environment is Our Responsibility.

Image
The environment we live in is like our mother. It is our greatest duty to protect it. There are several simple steps we can take to safeguard our surroundings. we must  plant more trees . Trees provide us with clean air. Second, it is very important to minimize the use of  plastic and polythene  and turn towards recycling. Additionally, we should practice using water and electricity sparingly without wasting them. Water pollution  can be minimized by refraining from throwing garbage into rivers and streams. If we protect the environment today, we will be fortunate enough to live in a healthy and beautiful world tomorrow. A hand that protects nature is a breath of life for the future.

The Origin of Drama 🎭

Image
The origin of drama dates back to the early stages of human civilization. It is an art form that began with a religious and ritualistic nature, going far beyond mere entertainment. Primitive humans performed  rituals  based on various beliefs and faiths to ensure successful hunts and seek protection from natural forces. Through these practices—such as wearing masks, rhythmic movements, and imitation—the fundamental characteristics of drama emerged. The formal beginning of Western drama is marked by  Greece , rooted in festivals held in honor of the god Dionysus. In the East, drama developed academically through  Bharata Muni’s  'Natya Shastra' in India. Within the Sri Lankan context, folk drama and healing rituals (Shanthikarma) are identified as the primary origins of the craft. Accordingly, drama is the most powerful and living medium of art discovered by humans to express their emotions and experiences.

Free education is the fundamental foundation for developing Sri Lanka's human resources. Established through the vision of Mr. C.W.W. Kannangara, this system enables talented children facing financial hardships to realize their academic dreams.  The primary value of this system lies in  social justice . Its goal is to ensure the right to knowledge for every child, regardless of whether they are rich or poor. As a result, the nation's literacy rate increases, and a generation of intelligent, virtuous citizens is gifted to society.

My Favourite Book: Senehebara Yugayaka.

My favourite book is the novel  "Senehebara Yugayaka"   written by Professor   Ediriweera Sarachchandra . I am deeply fond of this work primarily because of its exceptionally beautiful and poetic writing style. Set against the backdrop of university life, the story subtly explores the themes of youthful love, heartbreak, and the intricate nature of human relationships. The way the characters’ emotions are expressed resonates deeply with the reader, and a passion for art and aesthetics is elegantly highlighted throughout the narrative. Simply put, this is not just a novel; it is a masterpiece that encourages us to look at life and love through a profound lens. For these reasons, "Senehebara Yugayaka" remains the book closest to my heart.

Why is Aesthetics Essential for Us?

Aesthetics is not merely a hobby it is a fundamental factor in becoming a well-rounded human being. While science and technology teach us how to conquer the world, aesthetics teaches us how to truly experience and appreciate it. Artistic disciplines—such as music, painting, or dance—help  relieve mental stress  and awaken creative thinking. Furthermore, engaging with aesthetics fosters empathy, patience, and discipline within an individual. It contributes directly to the development of both Intelligence Quotient and Emotional Intelligence . Ultimately, aesthetics guides us to become virtuous human beings rather than mere machines.
